Our Mission
Mission
To provide a true Montessori experience, an environment that inspires children to develop inner discipline, self-assurance and love of learning. Helping each child to develop skills during periods of greatest readiness and sensitivity, providing a strong foundation for their future intellectual, physical and social development
Vision
Kaban Montessori is dedicated to nurturing the whole child in a friendly environment that tends to be an extension of the child’s home, making it safe and comfortable for adults and children, and educating the human potential academically, emotionally, socially and physically
Values
Provide a Nurturing environment
Intangible Environment
Intangible characteristics of the classroom: Harmony, hospitality, safety, conducive to wholesome development, understanding, shows interest and welcoming. It is beautiful, enriched and appropriate language
Physical Environment
Beautiful but deliberately austere, simple, elegant and very clean.
Everything in the classroom is child size, and it is there for an educational purpose, they are not toys. The classroom environment is rich sensorial and visually and is a reflection of reality.
Green Environment
As part of our program we are closely related with nature teaching respect for it, and the balance that should exist between humans and the environment and offer options to improve that relationship.
We promote:
-
- Awareness taking care and responsibility of the facilities as part of the program.
- Recycling , reasonable use of natural resources
- Consciousness about the proper use of classroom materials such as paper, glue, pencils etc.
- Approach to the libraries and the proper use of books
Community involvement in the educational process.
At Kaban building a strong community among the children, the parents, the teachers and our neighborhood, is one of our main priorities. We believe that working together as a team, we can accomplish much more.
Promote constant Staff development
The Association Montessori International (A.M.I.) was founded in 1929 by Maria Montessori to serve two purposes: to protect the integrity of her life’s work, and to raise general awareness of the importance of education. Being an A.M.I Montessori teacher certifies that the standards of quality of the training and the integrity of following Montessori’s philosophy is a must.
As a Montessori school, we require teachers with Montessori training. Our support staff consists of AMI trained Directresses, ECE’s (Early Childhood Educators), and trained teacher assistants.
Kaban and its teachers are also active members of the Canadian Association of Montessori Teachers (CAMT) a national organization devoted to excellence in teaching. CAMT strives to promote the interests of Montessori teachers, advance the standards of the teaching profession, and improve the quality of Montessori education in Canada. Through this organization’s efforts, Kaban Montessori is able to offer its staff many professional development opportunities
